Texas State Football Teams Holds Its Second Scrimmage

San Marcos, Texas- New head coach Dennis Franchione will have his first chance to see his Texas State football team play in its first game-like conditions when the Bobcats hold their second intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday, April 9 at Bobcat Stadium. The scrimmage is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m.

“We are treating this scrimmage just like it were a game except for the quarterback position,” said Franchione. “I am looking for some consistency on both sides of the football. The offense needs to execute better than they did last Saturday when they had too many turnovers. ”

The scrimmage will be Texas State's 12th practice this spring under Franchione, who has been pleased with the attitude the players have displayed.

“They have been soaking in as much information as they can, and we have been able to install everything we wanted them to learn this spring,” Franchione said. “They have tried to do everything that we have asked. They may not have done it as well as we would like, but they are getting better. They just need to play more consistently.”

Following Saturday's scrimmage, Texas State will have just two more practices this spring before playing in the Maroon-Gold game. The two practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon beginning at 3:45. The Maroon-Gold game will kick off at noon on Saturday, April 16.
