Lorraine Quinn

Lorraine Quinn is in her second season as an assistant coach for Texas State, joining the staff in July 2018. Her primary duties involve recruiting, technical development of field players, oversight of team conditioning, travel coordinator and video breakdown and analysis of the team and opponents.

Quinn arrives in San Marcos after working the past five seasons on staff at Army West Point. She held the title of assistant coach for the first two years before being promoted to associate head coach the last three seasons.

She mentored 12 All-Patriot League honorees in her time at West Point with Clare Shea being a three-time selection and a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team pick in 2017. Eight players were Patriot League All-Academic selections as well.

In both 2014 and 2013, Army qualified for the Patriot League Tournament as the fourth seed. Molly McGuigan was awarded the Army Athletic Association Trophy, which is presented to one male and one female cadet who display the “most valuable service to intercollegiate athletes during a career as a cadet.”

Prior to her arrival at West Point, Quinn served on the staff at William & Mary in 2012. The Tribe won the Colonial Athletic Association regular season title with an 8-2 conference record. They finished the season 14-5-1 overall after falling in the CAA Tournament semifinals to eventual tournament champions Hofstra on penalty kicks.

Quinn helped mentor midfielder Mallory Schaffer, who earned a plethora of awards to include second-team All-America honors with her selection to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and the Senior Class Award. She was also the CAA Player and Scholar Athlete of the Year and was one of three Tribe members honored by the Virginia Association of Sports Information Directors (VaSID) with all-state honors. Schaffer and Kiersten Harpe garnered first-team accolades with Cortlyn Bristol named to the second unit.

In 2011, Quinn headed to the United Kingdom to server as an assistant coach at Durham University and earn her master’s degree in business management. She was involved in scheduling, traveling, individual player records, recruiting, training sessions, budget management and film. In her one-year tenure, Quinn helped Durham capture the 2012 Futsal National Championship.

Quinn was a member of the United States Under-23 National Team that competed at the 2008 Nordic Cup that posted a 3-0 win over Germany in the championship match.

She broke into the coaching ranks in 2009 as an assistant coach for the varsity boys’ soccer team at Farmingdale High School, her alma mater.

An outstanding midfielder at Duke, Quinn garnered All-America honors in 2007, was a three-time All-ACC selection, a two-time All-Southeast Region pick and was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List her senior season. She would go on to score match-winning goals against Radford and Virginia in the 2007 NCAA College Cup.

Quinn closed out her collegiate career ranking first in matches played (91) and second in matches started (88). She excelled in the classroom as well, being named to the ACC All-Academic Team in 2007 and 2008, to the ACC Honor Roll and would go on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology.

During her prep school days, Quinn was a member of the Under-19, Under-17 and Under-16 United States Women’s National teams. She was the Gatorade N.Y. State Player of the Year in 2003 and was a member of McDonald’s All-America team in 2004. In addition, she was a two-time NSCAA All-America and two-time Parade All-America (2002 and 2003).
