Josh Alcala

Alcala is in his first year as an assistant coach with Texas State after a year at Illinois College as an assistant coach. His duties with the Bobcats will include player development and recruiting.
 
Prior to his time in Jacksonville, Illinois, Alcala completed a graduate assistantship at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
 
A four-year soccer player at South Carolina, he earned all-conference honors in Conference USA and played in three NCAA Tournaments. After his collegiate career, Alcala played professionally for Crystal Palace FC (Baltimore) and the Austin Aztex in the United Soccer League.
 
Following his successful professional soccer career, Alcala began his coaching career in the Austin area. In 2017, he became the head coach for the club program Chicago Fire Juniors. Subsequently, he served as an assistant coach at Purdue University-Northwest.
 
Alcala graduated from South Carolina in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Media Arts and completed his master’s degree in Sport Management in 2020 from Wisconsin-Parkside.
