Texas State Athletics

Steven Trout will begin his first year with Texas State as the Volunteer Assistant for the Bobcat baseball team in the 2009 season. Trout comes to Texas State after completing a stellar career at TCU with the Horned Frogs baseball program. Following graduation, Trout began his career with the Fort Worth Cats in the American Association before shifting to the Macon Music in the South Coast League. Trout played in 25 games for the Music, batting .285 with 55 hits, 12 doubles and two triples. In April 2008, Trout signed with the Kansas City T-Bones. The T-Bones won the 2008 Northern League Championship. From there, Trout coached at the Stars Baseball Academy in Southlake, Texas. I have no doubt he will transfer those skills to our student-athletes and will serve a great example for them to follow.[quote] Trout finished off his senior season with the Horned Frogs making all 62 starts, batting .326. The first baseman tallied 76 base knocks and 22 extra-base hits, including four homeruns. Trout score 55 runs and notched 44 RBI and on the base paths stole 6-of-6 attempted bases. In 2007, Trout garnered 2nd team Mountain West Conference honors and was named to the All-Regional team at the Houston Regional. Trout spent his junior season with TCU at designated hitter and third base before making the shift to first base. While in the DH role, he batted .286 with a team third-best 45 runs scored. Prior to his career with TCU, Trout was a two-year starter at Texarkana Community College where he took all-conference honors at shortstop. Trout is a native of Hooks, Texas and graduated from TCU in 2007. He holds a bachelor[apos]s degree in General Studies.
