Shaun Garcia returns to the Bobcat baseball program as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2013 season after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Hardin-Simmons a season ago.
The 2013 season marks Garcia's second season as an assistant with Texas State as he served as a student coach in 2011, after playing two seasons for the Bobcats. During his two seasons as a player, Garcia hit .290 with 23 RBIs and 17 runs scored in 63 games played. He was part of two Southland Conference Championships for the Bobcats as well as Regional Championship in 2009.
While at Hardin-Simmons, Garcia worked with the team's outfielder and also coached first base, a position he also assumes at Texas State. Garcia began work on a Master's in counseling, a degree he is currently pursuing.
Prior to playing for Texas State, Garcia spent two seasons playing at Grayson County College, helping the team to a 2008 NJCAA National Championship.
