ATC Meyer

Casey Meyer

Casey Meyer enters his first season as an assistant athletic trainer at Texas State where he works primarily with the baseball and volleyball teams, returning for his second tenure with the Bobcats after serving two years as a graduate assistant from the fall of 2012 until he graduated in the spring of 2014.

Meyer returned to San Marcos in 2015 after spending the previous year completing an athletic training residency at esteemed Ben Hogan Sports Medicine where he focused on injury research, specifically the ulnar collateral ligament.

Taking a leadership role, Meyer also coordinated and implemented a 3D motion capture system to assess throwing mechanics and techniques for baseball pitchers. He primarily focused on functional assessments and biomechanical needs analyses to optimize athletic performance and decrease injury incidence for patients ranging from adolescents to collegiate and professional baseball athletes.

During this time, Meyer also had the opportunity to work in conjunction with TCU athletics. While with the Horned Frogs, he provided treatments and coordinated rehabilitation for the TCU baseball team as it achieved back-to-back World Series appearances.

Prior to his time in Fort Worth, Meyer spent two years as a graduate assistant with the Texas State Bobcats. As a graduate assistant, he served as the primary athletic trainer for women’s volleyball where he was responsible for daily evaluation, prevention, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Proving to have a talent for keeping championship teams healthy, Meyer coordinated athletic training for the 2013 Sun Belt Conference Tournament Champion volleyball team.

A native of Manitowoc, Wisc., Meyer earned a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point in 2012. He continued to pursue further education when he first arrived at Texas State and later went on to graduate with a Master of Science in athletic training in 2014. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Texas Athletic Training Board and is an approved CAATE Clinical Preceptor. Meyer has also obtained further credentials by becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist.
