2012: Started in 39-of-46 games as a freshman … primarily played in the outfield … began the year hitting .412 through his first seven games, helped in part due to a four-game hitting streak that saw him go 7-for 14 (.500) … recorded his first career double as part of a 2-for-4 day with two runs scored and two RBI against Notre Dame (3/3) … had a season-high three hits in a 3-for-4 day with one RBI against TCU (3/20) … hit his first career homerun against Oregon (3/28) … was 8-for-9 in stolen base attempts … was solid in the field with just two errors in 64 fielding opportunities (.969).
 
High School: Attended Cedar City High School in Cedar City, Utah where he played for head coach Mark Johnson … two-time all-state first team selection … led the state in batting average (.574) and doubles (17) during his senior season and was named the region MVP … all-region first team three times … led the team in batting average during his sophomore, junior and season seasons.
 
Personal: Son of Kelvin and Lori Orton … born on June 1 … has five siblings – Jackie, Jesse, Michelle, Bobbi and Lindsey … major is undecided.
