SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State men's golf opens the season by hosting the 2026 Sandestin Collegiate Classic at the Raven Golf Club at the Sandestin Resort & Club in Destin, Florida. The event will be the second edition of the Bobcats' tournament away from home, with the inaugural event taking place in 2025.

2025-26 Recap
The Bobcats competed in 10 tournaments during the 2025-26 season, opening the fall with the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate in South Carolina before traveling to Florida for the Sandestin Collegiate Classic and Colorado for the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. The Bobcats closed the 2025 portion of the schedule with a fifth-place finish at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Monterey, California, it's best finish of the fall. TXST returned to action in February with tournaments in Alabama and Nevada, highlighted by a tie for fifth at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate, before continuing through Louisiana and Texas in March. The Bobcats posted their best team finish of the spring with a third-place showing at the Mobile Bay Collegiate in Alabama, then wrapped up the regular season with a ninth-place finish at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial in Virginia. Texas State concluded the season at the Sun Belt Championship in Madison, Mississippi, finishing tied for 12th.

Post Season Recognition
CSC Academic All-District | Ben Loveard and Sakke Siltala were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Team, recognizing their excellence both on the course and in the classroom during the 2025-26 season. The program honors student-athletes who excel academically and athletically. To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher, compete in at least 70 percent of their institution's scoring events or participate in the conference championship lineup, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars | Jose Berenguel, Ben Loveard and Sakke Siltala were each named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, earning recognition for their accomplishments both on the course and in the classroom. To qualify for consideration, NCAA Division I student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and athletically, participate in at least 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, maintain a stroke average under 76.0 and achieve a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. Honorees must also demonstrate high moral character and remain in good standing at their respective institutions.

All-Sun Belt Conference | For the third consecutive season, Sakke Siltala was recognized as an all-league selection. Siltala, who is closing out four years as a standout for the Bobcats, earned third-team honors following his final campaign at TXST. The senior finished the season with a team-best 71.7 scoring average, while also leading the Bobcats with eight rounds in the 60s, 20 even or under par, six eagles and 123 birdies. In 33 rounds played, 29 were counted toward the team score including a career-low 64 to open the spring at the Hal Williams Collegiate. Overall, Siltala led the Bobcats in six of 11 tournaments, turned in four top-10 finishes and had his best outing, a fifth place finish, at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational

Dean Richards… Saw action in 8 total stroke play events and 3 rounds of match play at the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate during his junior season at Queens University of Charlotte... Highest finish was 4th to earn All-Tournament Team honors at the Ironwood College Classic... Finished 6th to earn conference second-team honors at the Atlantic Sun Championship.. Posted a 73.51 adjusted stroke average... All-Academic Honoree.

Ben McFadden… Spent 2 seasons at Dalton State… Played in 10 tournaments and 29 rounds with a team-best scoring average of 72.38, adding three wins, six top-5 finishes, and seven top-10 finishes during the 2025-26 season... Carded a season-low round of 65... Was named SSAC Player of the Year and earned First-Team All-SSAC honors... Recognized as a First-Team All-American by both the NAIA and GCAA.

Lucky Cruz… Captured the 2023 Curry Cup Championship and Notah Begay III Junior National Championship, highlighted by an 11-under 202 at Koasati Pines, while also earning multiple top finishes on mini-tours and competing in prestigious events including the Faldo Series and U.S. Open qualifying…. In 2024, fired a 66 at Professional Tour of Mexico Q-School, climbing from 27th into the top 10 to earn full status and an Official World Golf Ranking.

José Arzú… Played 3 seasons at Harding University… 2026 PING All-Central Region… Was a first-team All-GAC selection in 2026, second team in 2024 and Freshman of the Year (2024)… Recorded a pair of first place finishes as a senior… Was 4th at the 2026 GAC Championship… Registered a 71.64 adjusted stroke average… Helped Harding to an appearance at the NCAA DII Central Midwest Regional.

Corrington Case… Attended Kingwood Park where he was MVP all four seasons… Finished 11th at the state championships and had a top-5 regional appearance… Shot a school record 65… Captured the 2025 Texas Junior Golf Alliance Invitational with a final-round 8-under 63... Won the Collegiate Preview… Also posted an 8-under 64 in a Texas Junior Amateur qualifier and finished tied for eighth at the 2025 Wyndham Clark AJGA Junior Championship with a 215 total.
