SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Volleyball suffered a 3-0 loss to Oklahoma on Friday at Strahan Arena.
Brooke Bentke led the way for the Bobcats (0-1 overall) with seven kills on the night, but Oklahoma (1-0 overall) quickly overpowered Texas State with a .406 hitting percentage en route to their win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats struggled to find their rhythm on offense, posting just a .055 hitting percentage to Oklahoma's .406 on the night.
The Sooners were strong offensively throughout the match, including a second set without a single hitting error resulting in a hitting percentage of .684.
Texas State tied the score a total of nine times and took the lead three times throughout the first and second sets, but Oklahoma took the match after holding the Bobcats to just 12 points in the third set.
Bentke led the Bobcats' offense with seven kills and India Bennett finished second with four kills. Anna Blaine recorded the most assists across the setters with 12 while both Bentke and libero Jasmine Purakal anchored the back row with three digs each.

"First and foremost, a huge thank you to that crowd for our home opener," said Texas State Volleyball head coach, Sean Huiet. "Just disappointed in how we performed but thanks to Bobcat Nation for showing out because that crowd was awesome. I'm just disappointed we didn't show them some better volleyball. That is not who we are. Just very, very, very disappointed. We're going to have to take this. Credit to OU, I knew they were going to come out and put pressure, I knew they were going to serve aggressive and they did just that and was not prepared for our team to do what they did."
