SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Volleyball wasted no time bouncing back from their loss against Oklahoma as the Bobcats (1-1 overall) put together a complete team performance on Sundat against Louisiana to close out the Texas State Invitational.
The Bobcats swung for a respectable .310 on the day while also accumulating 10 total team blocks, the most since their match against Arkansas State on Nov. 22, 2025. Brooke Bentke once again led the offense with 12 kills—her fifth career match in double-figure kills—while India Bennett tallied a staggering six blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ragin' Cajuns (0-2 overall) opened the day with their only lead of the match after posting a 3-1 score through the first four points. Texas State, however, quickly countered with a 6-0 run to take back the lead at 6-3.
From there, the Bobcats were squarely ahead thanks to six kills and a service ace from Bentke, but not before Louisiana went on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 23-23. The two teams traded blows and pushed the set past the standard 25-point mark, but the Bobcats emerged victorious after a Ragin' Cajun service error and one last kill from Bennett.
The second set was the best of the day for the Bobcats as they opened the frame with seven straight points and jumped to a 7-0 lead. Louisiana stood no chance against Texas State as the Ragin' Cajuns got no closer than four points in the entire set behind a match-best .409 hitting percentage for the Bobcats.
Ally Adair erupted offensively in the second set, posting four kills on six swings with only one attacking error for a staggering .500 hitting percentage. In addition, the Bobcats also posted their most blocks in a single game at five, led by Benett with four. On the back row, both Bentke and Purakal shared defensive duties with four digs each.
The third and final set of the day was the most balanced for the Bobcats as three different players recorded at least two kills and five different players were responsible for blocks. Bentke and Bennett split the offensive load with four and three kills, respectively, while Ashley Euston led at the net with three blocks. Isabella Andrews was also responsible for the only solo block of the entire day.
Louisiana also could not get out of their own way in the final set as the Ragin' Cajuns posted 11 attack errors to the Bobcats' four.

"I'm just really proud. We talked a lot after Friday night about getting back to our style of volleyball. We talked the other night about how we do have a lot of new faces out there and there'd be some peaks and valleys early on but we felt like we weren't playing Texas State volleyball and today, like I told them, the outcome will come. I don't mind that. I just want us to be who we are. I thought we did a really good job of staying true to that today so I'm very, very proud of them. I think Louisiana's a great team and they'll get a lot of wins this year in the Sun Belt and so I think that's a really good win. To come in and beat a good team like that."

"Like Sean said, that wasn't Texas State volleyball. We all knew it. We all knew it in the match it was just really hard for us to turn it around. Afterwards we had a deep talk in the locker room and we all got on the same page. I think we're there. We're really excited to be able to continue on with that and we had a great practice yesterday and we had a great film session this morning. We were hyped for this match today, we came in feeling really, really good about ourselves and we wanted the fans to want to come back. We talked a lot about playing hard no matter what and playing Texas State volleyball."
