SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State football's
Ryan Nolan and
Beau Sparks have been recognized among the state's top returning players after earning selections to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Preseason All-Texas Teams.
Sparks was named a Second Team All-Texas selection on offense at wide receiver, while Nolan garnered Second Team All-Texas honors on defense at defensive back.
Sparks enters the 2026 campaign following one of the most productive receiving seasons in program history. The wide receiver led the Bobcats with 84 receptions for 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2025 while averaging 14.3 yards per catch. His 1,200 receiving yards ranked among the nation's leaders and helped power a Texas State offense that finished among the top offenses in the country. Sparks recorded at least 100 receiving yards in seven contests and earned First Team All-Sun Belt recognition following the season.
Nolan returns as one of the leaders of the Bobcat defense after emerging as one of the conference's top defensive backs during the 2025 season. The veteran safety helped anchor a defense that played a key role in Texas State's successful campaign and enters 2026 as one of the most experienced defenders on the roster. He was second on the team with 79 tackles while adding 3.0 tackles-for-loss.
Texas State enters its first year as a member of the Pac-12 with seven home games scheduled at UFCU Stadium. The Bobcats open the season on the road against Texas before returning to San Marcos for a highly anticipated home slate that includes matchups against UTSA, North Texas, Colorado State, Utah State, Fresno State and Washington State.
