Bobcats Advance with 4-1 Win Over Georgia Southern

ROME, Ga.— Texas State advanced to the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-1 victory over Georgia Southern on Thursday morning at the Rome Tennis Center.

The Bobcats controlled the match early by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two, then carried that momentum into singles play with three victories to clinch the match.

Doubles
Texas State went 2-0 in completed doubles matches, with courts one and two finishing in order.

On court one, Emily Niers and Ireland Simme delivered a dominant 6-1 win over Angelina Mihajlovic and Evelyn Warkentin.

Stoney Cooks and Charlotte Roesch followed with a 6-2 victory on court two against Mackenzie Leopold and Lisen Rinman to clinch the doubles point.

The match on court three featuring Tadiwa Mauchi and Anastas Radovanovic was tied 4-4 before going unfinished.

Singles
Tadiwa Mauchi extended the Bobcats' lead with a straight-set win on court three, defeating Franzi Heinemann 6-4, 6-3.

Ireland Simme followed with a strong comeback on court two, dropping the opening set before rallying to defeat Angelina Mihajlovic 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Charlotte Roesch secured the match for Texas State on court four, battling back after dropping the first set to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Texas State will face No. 4 Arkansas State in the quarterfinals Friday at 10:30 a.m. ET.
