Softball Wins Series vs Southeastern Louisiana

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Softball clinched the series win against (RV) Southeastern Louisiana with a 4-1 win on Saturday afternoon.

A pitcher's duel through the first five innings quickly turned when the Bobcats scored four runs on five hits in the bottom of the 5th inning.

How it Happened:
Emma Strood started in the circle, allowing her lone hit of the outing in the first inning. She was able to escape the inning unscathed after the Bobcats turned a 643 double play to get the two outs they needed.

From there, Texas State got hits in the 2nd and fourth innings but were unable to score. Chesney Davis came into pitch for the Bobcats in the 4th as well, allowing Strood to exit the game with a scoreless outing. Sydney Harvey helped keep it scoreless with a home run robbery in the top of the 2nd.

The bottom of the fifth got started with a leadoff bunt single from Ava Renteria. She advanced to second on Harvey's ground out and would go on to score from a Keely Williams RBI single. From there, the Lions opted for a pitching change.

Aiyana Coleman singled to left to load the bases for the Bobcats. From there, a RBI single from Bass scored one more run, then a 2 RBI double from Harley Vestal made it a 4-0 ball game. All four of the Bobcats' runs came in the 5th inning.

Southeastern Louisiana got their lone run of the game on an RBI single. From there, Maddy Azua came in to close the game and would earn the save for her 1.1 inning outing. She'd allow a walk and a hit, but no runners would score.

In the end, Texas State got their 4-1 win and took the series against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday afternoon. The team improves to 12-7 on the season with the result.
