SEMMES, Alabama – The Texas State men's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule with an eighth-place finish at the Hal Williams Collegiate hosted by South Alabama at Magnola Grove in Semmes, Alabama.
Sakke Siltala (64-71-72--207) and
Ben Loveard (68-67-72—207) led the Bobcats as the pair tied for 14th in the 78-player field. Both players went 2-over on the final 18 to close out the event, with Siltala's 54 holes featuring a 6-under opening round, a team-low in 2025-26, and Loveard shooting under par in both rounds on the first day.
No. 13 Illinois won the tournament at -31, while Southern Miss finished second (-16) and UAB third (-14). The Bobcats 54-hole total came to -2.
Bryce Womack (73-72-69--214) carded his best round on Tuesday, going 1-under across the final 18 to tie for 44th alongside teammate
Jaxon Donaldson (70-70-74--214) at 4-over 214.
Jose Manuel Berenguel Casas (71-75-72--218) rounded out the TXST lineup going 8 over for the tournament for 65th place.
The Bobcats are back in action February 23-25 at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate in Henderson, Nevada.
