Bobcats Stage Comeback at Georgia State with Anderson's Double-Double

ATLANTA– Kyra Anderson recorded her third double-double of the last four games with 21 points and 15 rebounds in the Bobcats win at Georgia State on Saturday afternoon. The weekend completed back-to-back double-digit games for her and Saniya Burks, who had 13 on the night. The Bobcats completed a comeback effort after trailing at the half to win 68-59.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Angela Carroll started the game off hot for the Bobcats, getting her looks in the paint and shoot 4-5 to score eight in the first 10 minutes of the game. KP Parr added to that with four on 2-3 shooting while recording two rebounds and two assists. Despite that, though, the Panthers shot 8-18 to score 16 of their own. After the first it was tied at 16.

The two teams started off the second quarter matching points, when Texas State was able to pull ahead off a Saniya Burks three-pointer. From there, though, two scoreless minutes for Texas State saw the Bobcats trailing 30-23. Texas State fought to come back, but in the final two minutes of the quarter the Panthers went on an 8-0 run to extend their lead. At the half the Panthers led 40-30.

Out of the halftime break, Texas State struggled to score early but were able to find their rhythm after the media timeout. Anderson heated up for seven points in the third quarter to help Texas State to 15 points in the third. Texas State was able to limit the Panthers to just 12 points in the third but still trailed 52-45 headed into the fourth quarter.

Following the media timeout in the fourth quarter, Texas State was able to extend its scoring run out to 9-0 to make it a one-point game. From there, the Bobcats dug deep to find themselves leading by six with two minutes to go. The Bobcats' work at the free throw line made the difference, going 10-11 in the fourth.

Texas State is now 10-11 on the season and 6-5 in Sun Belt play after today's win at Georgia State.
