SAN MARCOS, Texas – Deja Jones recorded her first double-double as a Bobcat with 10 points and 10 rebounds as one of three Bobcats to score double-digits in the teams' game against Georgia State.
Â
Despite the 61-57 loss, Jones,
Kyra Anderson and
Saniya Burks were in double-digits. Anderson had her fifth consecutive double-digit game with 14 while Burks had her third consecutive with 14 tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Eagles came out to a hot start, shooting a game-best 45.5% in the first quarter to score 20 points, pairing that with a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. In contrast, Texas State shot well at 4-10, but with just three points from the free throw line, the Eagles were able to use that to separate themselves early in the game.
Â
Anderson scored eight in the second quarter to help the Bobcats keep the score close at the halftime break. Despite Georgia Southern carrying a lead at the half, the Bobcats were still carrying momentum into the break. At the half it was 39-25 for the Eagles.
Â
The third quarter was the Bobcats' best of the night, though. They outscored Georgia Southern 18-9 on 8-12 shooting while limiting the Eagles to just 3011. Despite the Bobcats not shooting a single free throw in the third quarter, they were able to cut the Eagles lead down to single digits, even making it a one possession game after an Anderson layup in the paint in the final moments of the third quarter. After the third, the Bobcats rallied back to a 48-43 score.
Â
The chess match continued in the fourth quarter with Texas State slowly chipping away at the Eagles lead. Following a layup and-one in the final 25 seconds of the game,
KP Parr made it a one-point game. The Eagles were able to win the ball back on the inbound play after a timeout and get to the free throw line, though, making it a four-point win for Georgia Southern in the end.Â
Â
Georgia Southern won 61-57 in the end. Texas State is now 10-12 on the season and 6-6 in Sun Belt play after today's win at Georgia State.
