HARRISONBURG, Va. – The weekend for the Texas State men's basketball team (11-11, 4-6 Sun Belt) fell on Saturday afternoon to James Madison (10-11, 3-6 Sun Belt), 82-57, in the Atlantic Union Bank Center.

Mark Drone paced the Bobcats with 17 points.
DJ Hall was the only other player in double-figures with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Adding nine points, four assists and four steals was
Kaden Gumbs, who played all 40 minutes.

Coming off the bench,
Robert Fields scored eight points as he made 3-of-4 field goal attempts and knocked down both of his free throw attempts. The freshman also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and blocked a shot.

Texas State couldn't overcome a hot shooting night from the Dukes, who made 30-of-57 (52.6%) shots with 14 of their makes coming from beyond the arc.

At the 15:50 mark of the first half, the Bobcats took their lone lead of the game. That came when
Mark Drone knocked down a three-pointer from the right wing that put the team up 10-8.

Over the next 6:50, the Dukes went on a 17-3 run to stretch their lead to double digits.

Three straight layups by
Robert Fields,
Kaden Gumbs and
DJ Hall cut the deficit to 33-23 with 3:47 left in the period. However, JMU scored 14 of the next 17 points behind four three-pointers to stretch its advantage to 21 points.

Throughout the second half, the Dukes maintained at least a 20-point lead. Drone would score 12 of TXST's 29 points in the period.

Next up for the Bobcats is a week at home that begins with a contest against Marshall on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
