Anderson Has Double-Double in Win vs App State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Kyra Anderson led the Bobcats to a 63-49 win over App State with her fifth double-double of the season as she led the team in points (19) and rebounds (16).

Additionally, Mia Galbraith came off the bench to help the Bobcats with 11 points and five rebounds, while Saniya Burks contributed 12 points and three rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first quarter was a low-scoring affair from both sides as the two teams battled through early scoring woes. It was Galbraith off the bench who scored five of the Bobcats seven in the first quarter. App State led 8-7 after the first quarter.

The second quarter, though, the Bobcat offense came alive. Texas State shot 50% from the field on 8-16 shooting to score 21 points. Burks contributed 10 of them on 4-6 shooting with 2-3 from three-point range. The Bobcats did that while outrebounding App State 10-5 to help limit them to just another eight points. At the half, App State had 16 points on 6-23 shooting, helping Texas State find a 28-16 lead.

The Bobcats continued to score efficiently in the third quarter, outscoring App State 21-16. Despite the Mountaineers improving to 7-14 shooting, Texas State's perfect 8-8 from the free throw line helped them keep the Mountaineers at bay. Anderson scored 10 of her 19 in that quarter, including a 4-4 shot from the free throw line.

The Mountaineers were able to make a small dent in their deficit in the final quarter, outscoring Texas State 17-14. Their efforts fell short, though, as Texas State held on to its 63-49 lead.

Texas State is now 8-10 on the season and 4-4 in Sun Belt play after today's win vs App State.
