SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (11-9, 4-4 Sun Belt) is back on the road this weekend that begins with a game at Coastal Carolina (11-9, 4-4 Sun Belt) on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT from the HTC Center.

About Texas State
Last week saw the Bobcats win both home games over Louisiana and Southern Miss. Kaden Gumbs led the team offensively with 18 points in each contest. The two victories also increased head coach Terrence Johnson's career win total to 99. He is one victory shy of becoming the fourth coach in program history to reach the century mark.
DJ Hall enters the weekend leading the team with 13.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. The freshman also leads the conference shooting 55.2% from the field. Mark Drone is the only other TXST player with a double-digit scoring average at 13.1 ppg and is making 46.3% of his shots.
After his two 18-point performances, Kaden Gumbs increased his scoring average to 9.0 ppg. He paces the team with 3.6 assists per game and 42 steals. Franck Emmou comes in having made a team-high 20 three-pointers with Drone right behind him with 19 treys. The trio of Jalen Bolden, Kyndall Davis and Dimp Pernell have each made 13 shots from beyond the arc.
About Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers have won three straight and after defeating Georgia Southern and Marshall on the road last week. At home, the Chanticleers are 4-3 with a 1-3 mark in conference play. Their lone victory was against App State while they fell to Georgia State, Old Dominion and the Eagles.
CCU has a three-headed attack offensively led by Johsua Beadle at 16.0 ppg and 3.3 apg. Rasheed Jones has made 39 three-pointers and is putting up 15.2 ppg. Rounding out the double-digit scorers is AJ Dancler at 14.7 ppg having made 40 three-pointers and grabbing a team-high 5.7 rpg.
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 10-3. The Bobcats had won seven straight games in the series until the most recent meeting on Jan. 4, 2024. That night in San Marcos saw Coastal Carolina win 71-63.
When playing on the road, TXST is 5-0 all-time in the series. Four of the five victories have been by five points or less with the exception being a 100-63 contest on Feb. 6, 2020. The Bobcats are 7-1 all-time when playing in the HTC Center after going 2-1 last season in the Mrytle Beach Invitational.
