Texas State Returns Home Wednesday to Face Louisiana

SAN MARCOS, Texas – After playing the past four games on the road, the Texas State men's basketball team (9-9, 2-4 Sun Belt) returns to Strahan Arena on Wednesday to host Louisiana (4-14, 2-4 Sun Belt) at 7 p.m.

About Texas State

The Bobcats are coming off to tough road losses at Arkansas State and Southern Miss last weekend to drop to 1-8 away from San Marcos. When playing at home, TXST is 8-1 and have won 11 of its last 13 in Strahan Arena dating back to last season.

Mark Drone leads the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game and 18 made three-pointers while tied for second on the squad with DJ Hall with 43 assists. Hall is the only other Bobcat with a double-digit scoring average at 13.3 ppg and a Sun Belt Conference leading 56.2% shooting. He also paces the team with 7.6 rebounds per game and is second with 24 steals.

The trio of Franck Emmou (7.6), Kaden Gumbs (7.9) and Makai Willis (7.0) are contributing at least seven points a contest. Gumbs leads Texas State with 3.7 assists per game and 38 steals.

About Louisiana
The Ragin' Cajuns split last weekend at home with a win over ULM before ending it with a 20-point loss against Troy. On the road, Louisiana is 1-8 as the lone victory came on the Warhawks back on Dec. 20, 2025. The first seven losses for the Cajuns away from home were by double-digit points before dropping the Sun Belt opener at Southern Miss by eight.

Dorian Finister paces Louisiana in scoring (13.8), rebounding (4.9), made shots (81) and made free throws (62). His 17 steals are tied for the most on the team with De'vion Lavergne. Jaxon Olvera is the only other Cajun with a double-digit scoring mark at 11.8 ppg and leads the squad with 32 made three-pointers.

Joshua Lewis is knocking down 44.4% of his three-point attempts having made 20 of his shots from beyond the arc. Also with double-digit made treys are Milan Mejia (20), Dariyus Woodson (15) and Lavergne (16).

Series History
Louisiana leads the all-time series 22-8 and has won seven of the last eight meetings. Last season, the teams split the two regular season contests that saw the road team win each time.

When playing the Cajuns at home, Texas State is 4-9 all-time. The last home victory was on Jan. 15, 2022 by the score of 72-68 behind a game-high 22 points from Caleb Asberry.
