STANFORD, Calif — Texas State faced #4 Stanford inside the Maples Pavilion on Saturday afternoon and fell 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The two teams went back and forth in the first set, with eight tied scores in the early goings. Stanford took their first lead, though, at 15-14 that they would not relinquish the rest of the set. The Cardinal extended its lead out to as many as five to end the set, winning 25-20.
Nina Moorer led the Bobcats with four kills in set one.
Similarly in set two, Texas State started off the set in the lead. The Bobcats found a 5-2 lead early, but Stanford battled their way back into it through the midway point in the set. At the media timeout, Stanford led 15-11. Texas State did its best to battle back but fell 25-15 in set two.
The Cardinal attack was effective in set three to silence the Bobcats, swinging 15-2-22 on the set for a .591 attack percentage. That, alongside nine Bobcat errors helped Stanford get out to a lead early. Texas State battled late in the set, matching points through to the end of the set. Despite that, though, Stanford was able to win set three 25-18 to take the match.
After today's three set loss to Stanford, Texas State is 4-6 on the season.
