MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Texas State baseball team saw its season come to an end Thursday morning with a 4-2 loss to Troy in an elimination game at Riverwalk Stadium in the Sun Belt Conference Championship.

With the result, the Bobcats concluded the year with a 27-31 record while the Trojan improved to 38-20.

Picking up the win was Noah Thigpen (3-1) after throwing 2.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and three walks.
Matthew Tippie (2-2) took the loss after giving up two runs on two hits and punching out two.

Austin Eaton started and struck out five in five innings but also surrendered two runs on six hits and two walks.
Carson Laws had one punch out in his 1.1 shutout frames of relief.

The Bobcats were limited to four hits in the contest but drew six free passes. The two biggest hits were solo home runs from
Coy DeFury and
Alan Shibley. Recording a single apiece were
Ryne Farber and
Austin Munguia.

With two gone in the first, a double down the right field line plated the first run of the game for the Trojans. They would tack on another run in the third for a 2-0 lead.

Texas State was hitless for the first four innings. Shibley ended that when he sent a 2-1 shot down the right field line that hit off the foul pole to lead off the fifth. It was the senior's sixth homer of the season.

DeFury tied the game in the sixth when he crushed a 0-1 offering 394 feet down the right field line for his fifth long ball of the year.

Troy took the lead on a Jakob Wax homer to start off the seventh and added a second run in the frame on a wild pitch.

In both the eighth and ninth innings, the Bobcats were able to get two runners on base but were unable to come up with a base knock to bring any of them home.
