Bobcats Fall to No. 68 Marshall 4-0

Texas State dropped its third match in conference play on Saturday

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's tennis fell to No. 68 ranked Marshall 4-0 on Saturday in its last Sun Belt Conference road match of the season. The Bobcats now sit at 15-5 overall on the season and 6-3 in SBC play.

The match between the Bobcats and the Thundering Herd was played indoors due to inclement weather in Huntington, West Virginia.

Marshall secured the doubles point after winning matches on courts two and three. Court two featured Maria Lora and Chantajah Mills, who dropped their match 0-6.

On court three, Kiana Graham and Callie Creath dropped their match 3-6, which allowed the Thundering Herd to clinch the doubles point.

The match on court one, featuring Sofia Fortuno and Ireland Simme, went unfinished while the pair was tied 4-4 in their doubles match.

In singles, the Bobcats fell on courts three, two and five, which allowed Marshall to secure the four points needed to clinch the match.

On court three, Emily Niers fell 1-6, 2-6 and dropped her first SBC singles match of the year. She now sits at 12-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

Callie Creath fell 2-6, 2-6 on court two, which gave Marshall a 3-0 lead in the match.

The clinch point came on court five, when freshman Bobcat Tadiwa Mauhci dropped her match 1-6, 4-6 against Marshall's Sophia Hurrion.

The matches on courts one, four and six, featuring Kiana Graham, Sofia Fortuno and Ireland Simme, all went unfinished after the Herd clinched the match point.

Texas State women's tennis returns to the Bobcat Tennis Complex on April 19 to face the Troy Trojans. The match will be the last regular-season matchup for Texas State before the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
