SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State softball had back-to-back shutouts and one hit outings in two wins over Missouri State. Texas State won the first game 3-0 and the second 9-0 in five innings to improve to 14-6 on the season.
Highlighting the night was a combined one hitter from Maddy Azua and
Analisa Soliz, as well as a solo one-hitter from
Emma Strood in the second game. That, paired with an
Aiyana Coleman grand slam to help the Bobcats run-rule the Bears in game two sealed the wins on the night.
WHAT HEAD COACH RICCI WOODARD SAID: "To be successful we've got two do things, number one are we going to keep the ball in the yard? And number two are we going to do a good job offensively? And tonight I thought we did a decent job on both of those things."
WHAT 1B AIYANA COLEMAN SAID:Â "Just knowing that my teammates had my back, they're always giving me words of confidence. And going into the box, that helps for sure."
WHAT PITCHER EMMA STROOD SAID:Â "I was just excited to be back at home, but our defense was electric tonight."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Texas State 3, Missouri State 0
Maddy Azua started in the circle for the Bobcats, tossing 6.0 innings and striking out seven batters and allowing just one hit on the night.
Analisa Soliz would close out the game in the final inning, striking out two of the three batters she faced.
The Bobcats were slow to get started, but were able to get runner on base, just not score any runs, until the fourth inning. Texas State scored all three of its runs in the 4
th inning.Â
Starting things off in the 4
th was a double from
Keely Williams. She'd go on to score on
Ciara Trahan's RBI triple. Trahan would then cross the plate on a
Kate Bubela triple. With two outs, Bubela scored on a throwing errors by the Bears catcher.Â
After the Bobcats put up their three runs, they continued to get runners on but were unable to score. Missouri State would hit their lone hit of. The game in the top of the 6
th, but were unable to score.
Texas State's 3-0 shutout over Missouri State would be the teams 5
th time shutting out a team this season.Â

Emma Strood tossed the complete game in game two for the Bobcats, allowing just one hit and striking out four batters in the process. Strood is now 6-3 on the season in the circle.
The Bobcats started their scoring early in this game, putting four runs on the board in the second inning. Starting things off was an RBI single from
Erin Peterson who scored Trahan. Trahan got on base from a walk. Williams then had an RBI single of her own to score
Mayson Garrett, who was also walked to reach base.
After that, Coleman had a 2 RBI double down the left field line that the Bears left fielder attempted to dive for and missed, allowing two runs to score for the Bobcats. After two innings, Texas State led 4-0.
From there, the Bobcats continued to roll by loading the bases. Peterson started the scoring with an RBI single to left field, scoring Kelnar who reached on a fielder's choice. After that, Williams was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Coleman then hit a grand slam to make it a 9-0 game and put the Bobcats in run rule territory.
Missouri State hit their lone hit with two outs in the top of the 5
th, but were unable to score any runs. Texas State won the game in five innings by a 9-0 scoreline.
