SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's tennis defeated Louisiana 4-1 to earn its fourth Sun Belt Conference win and its 13
th win overall.
"Excited to get another win today, I think anytime you can improve your record in our conference is huge, said Texas State head coach Kendall Brooks. "Great start and great finish today. Hoping to keep the momentum on the road next week."
The Bobcats got off to a hot start in doubles play by winning matches on courts one and three to earn the doubles point and gain an 1-0 lead heading into the singles matches. They continued their success in singles play and won matches on courts five, two and four to clinch the match.
After today's match, the Bobcats moved to 13-3 overall, 4-1 in SBC play and remain perfect at home with a 7-0 record. Texas State's 7-0 record at home ties its best home record since joining the SBC in 2014.
For the third time in program history the Bobcats have reached 13 wins with their win over Louisiana today. The Bobcats reached 13 wins in 2010 and 14 wins in 2012.

Doubles
Ireland Simme and
Sofia Fortuno were the first pair to win their match in doubles play. The pair won 6-2 on court one and earned their third win of SBC play and moved to 3-0 overall.
The doubles point was clinched by
Callie Creath and
Kiana Graham on court three. The pair won their match 6-4 and earned their 11
th win of the season. Graham and Creath lead Texas Sate in doubles wins as a pair.
The match on court two featuring
Chantajah Mills and
Ireland Simme went unfinished, when they were tied 5-5.
Singles
Ireland Simme improved her undefeated streak to 12 wins and earned the Bobcats their second point in the match against Louisiana. Simme won in straight-sets 6-2, 6-2, which marked her sixth straight-set win this season.
The next win for the Bobcats came from
Callie Creath on court two, Creath won her match 6-2, 6-1 and earned her sixth win on court two this season.
Sofia Fortuno clinched the match for Texas State with a 7-5, 6-0 win on court four and moved to 9-5 in singles play on the season.
The matches on courts one and three featuring
Kiana Graham and
Emily Niers went unfinished, while Freshman
Chantajah Mills dropped her match 2-6, 3-6.
