Bobcats Defeat Bearkats 5-2

The Bobcats moved to 9-2 this season and earned their eighth-straight win

SAN MARCOS, Texas – On Sunday, in its last match before conference play Texas State women's tennis defeated in-state opponent Sam Houston State 5-2 and earned its ninth win of the season.

"Today was tough, we did not start great in doubles and definitely had to overcome some windy conditions and adversity," said TXST head coach Kendall Brooks. "Sometimes it's not about how you start, but how you finish and we were able to get it done in singles. The girls played tough and showed how gritty they are. A great way to finish the non-conference part of our season and I think we have some great momentum going into conference next week."

The Bobcats earned their eighth consecutive win, tying the second-longest winning streak in recorded history and their longest streak since joining the Sun Belt Conference.

Texas State began the match by dropping the doubles point but rebounded in singles play, winning five of six matches and recording victories on courts one, three, four, five, and six.
