SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the second straight week, Texas State dropped a home midweek game to a Big XII Conference foe. Baylor left Bobcat Ballpark with a 19-3 victory in seven innings on Tuesday.
Â
With the result, the Bobcats fall to 8-12 on the season while the Bears are now 15-5.
Â
Claiming the win on the mound was Caleb Jameson (1-0) after working the first two innings. He struck out four while giving up three runs on four hits. Jackson Teer (0-4) surrendered four runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six to take the loss.
Â
Both Cameron O'Banan and Matthew Tippie worked an inning out of the bullpen. Tippie recorded all three of his outs via a punch out.
Â
Justin Vossos finished 2-for-3 at the plate and Ryne Farber also had two base knocks on the night. Ian Collier drove in all three of TXST's runs on his second home run of the season.
Â
After Baylor took an early lead with a run in the top of the first, Alan Shibley and Farber both singled. Collier then smacked a 1-0 offering 409 feet over the left centerfield wall to put Texas State ahead 3-1.
Â
The Bears retook the lead with three runs in the third and extended the advantage with three more in the fifth. In the sixth, the visitors blew the game open with 10 runs that all came with two outs after Texas State committed two errors earlier in the frame. Baylor tacked on two more runs in the seventh to wrap up the scoring.
