SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's tennis earned its second SBC win of the season after defeating ULM 4-0 on Friday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. The Bobcats improved to 11-3 on the season and have a 2-1 record in SBC play.
"I thought today was a good win for us as a team," said head coach
Kendall Brooks. "We tried some new doubles pairings and had some positives come out of that, and a great comeback at line three even though we started a bit slow. But then we just absolutely dominated singles and took care of business. Great to get back in the win column, and we hope to use this to propel us forward for Sunday's match."
Today's victory marked the 11th win of the season for the Bobcats, making this the second time in two years the Bobcats have earned double-digit wins. This is the first time since 2011-12 that TXST has recorded back-to-back seasons with double-digit wins.
Texas State started the match off by winning the doubles point after securing victories on courts one and three. On court three,
Callie Creath and
Kiana Graham clinched the point for the Bobcats after battling back from a 5-0 deficit to win their match 7-5.
In singles play, TXST won matches on courts three, four, and five to earn the three points needed to clinch the match.
Ireland Simme clinched the match on court five with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set victory, maintaining her undefeated record in singles play (11-0).
