Foster Has 19 in Bobcats 59-50 Loss to Western Michigan

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's basketball suffered a 59-50 loss to Western Michigan for its first loss in the MAC-SBC Challenge since the challenge began in 2023.

Jaylin Foster led the team with 19 points on 6-13 shooting while bringing down four rebounds and having two assists and two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Jaylin Foster started the night with a three-pointer, putting the Bobcats to a 5-0 start to the game. Western Michigan matched the points though, tying it back up at 5-5. Despite six points in the first quarter from Foster, Texas State trailed 9-12 after the first quarter.

The Bobcats shot 4-10 in the second quarter, but the Broncos 6-12 shooting helped them go up 29-22 at the half. Both sides combined for 21 turnovers in the first half alone.

The third quarter was more even between the two sides scoring wise, but the Bobcats points came largely from the free throw line. Western Michigan had just one free throw attempt to the Bobcats eight. The Broncos shot 6-11 for 14 points in the third to extend their lead to nine.

The Bobcats fought to come back in the fourth quarter, narrowing the Broncos lead to as few as four, but were unable to complete the comeback. A run at the end of the game helped the Broncos go back ahead by nine, ending the game 59-50.

After today's game, Texas State is now 10-13 on the season and 4-9 in Sun Belt play.
