TROY, Alabama – Despite a 21-point night from
Ja'Mia Harris, Texas State women's basketball suffered an 86-66 loss to the Troy Trojans on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
The game started off back and forth with the Bobcats able to adjust to the Trojans attempts to play a high-speed offense. Both teams shot well, with the Bobcats shooting 7-16 in the first quarter.
Morgan Hill led with four points in the first quarter as the Bobcats went for 17 through the first 10 minutes of the game. Troy held a narrow three-point lead after the first quarter, with a 20-17 scoreline in the second quarter.

Ja'Mia Harris heated up for mthe Bobcats during the second quarter, shooting 3-7 for eight points to total her at 11 through the first half. Her eight points led the Bobcats as they scored 13 in the second. Texas State limited the Trojans to 16 points as they turned the ball over six times in the second quarter alone. At the half, Troy still led, but narrowly by just six points with a 36-30 scoreline.

Out of the halftime break, Texas State battled to keep things close, drawing the game within one within the first few minutes of the half. A 12-1 run from the Trojans helped them extend a lead, though. Despite Texas State shooting 8-14 in the third, they were unable to find a lead in this game.

The fourth quarter became all Trojans, though. Texas State shot 6-16, but that was while the Trojans went 11-21 to score 29 in the quarter. When
Jaylin Foster fouled out midway through the quarter and the Bobcats were outscored 12-4 through the final four minutes of the game.Â

Texas State fell 86-66 and are now 12-16 on the season and 6-11 in Sun Belt play.

Texas State will close out its regular season at South Alabama. The game will be at 5 pm on Feb. 28 in Mobile, Alabama and streamed on ESPN+. This game will decide final seeding in the Sun Belt standings and the Bobcats will find out their date and opponent for the 2024-25 Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The tournament will run March 4-10 in Pensacola, Florida with all games streamed on ESPN+.
