Softball Goes 6-0 in Bobcat Tournament

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State softball finished weekend two of the season with a perfect 6-0 mark in their Bobcat Tournament after a 6-2 win over New Mexico on Sunday afternoon.

Emma Strood tossed five scoreless innings and allowed just one run in the result while the Bobcat offense was pushed by six different hitters registering nine runs. Sydney Harvey tallied two on the day, as did Ciara Trahan and Kate Bubela

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Emma Strood started in the circle for the Bobcats, tossing 6.0 innings, registering eight strikeouts and allowing just one run and walking one batter. She improved to a 4-0 record on the year with the win. After giving up one run in the top of the 1st, she pitched five scoreless innings.

The Bobcats had Strood's back in the bottom half of the inning, though, getting two runs to reclaim the lead. The runs came off a Keely Williams double to right center and a Coleman single that put the Bobcats up 2-1.

In the second inning, Texas State added a third run off a Sydney Harvey single turned error that Ciara Trahan scored on.

Neither side added a run in the fourth.

In the 4th, Texas State added three more runs. Starting things off was back-to-back singles from Trahan and Kate Bubela. From there, Erin Peterson would bat in  the run on a sac-fly to left field. The final two runs came on a Mel Reeves single that scored Harvey and Bubela.

Neither side added any runs in the fifth or sixth innings, but New Mexico added a consolation run in the bottom of the 7th inning to make it a 6-2 game.
