MONROE, Louisiana – Texas State women's basketball bounced back with a 67-64 win on Saturday afternoon.
Destiny Terrell reached her landmark 1,000
th career point in the second quarter of the Bobcats game at ULM. She would go on to a 12 night. That, paired with double digit nights from
Saniya Burks,
Ja'Mia Harris and
Morgan Hill helped the Bobcats to the road win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
Texas State started off well, going up 5-0 courtesy of a hot start from
Ja'Mia Harris. From there, the Warhawks battled back but to make it a close quarter, but Texas State still finished the first quarter up 19-18. 8-14 shooting helped the Bobcats to start the game off on the right foot.
Throughout the second quarter the Bobcats were able to put space between themselves and the Warhawks, on 9-16 shooting. Six turnovers from the Warhawks helped the Bobcats outscore them 21-14 in the second quarter. Terrell led with six points, which is when she reached her milestone 1,000
th career point. At the halftime break, Texas State led 40-32.
Through the third quarter, the Warhawks tested the Bobcats and were able to make a dent in the deficit the Bobcats had. Despite Texas State still putting up 15 points in the third, ULM shot 7-17 to put up 19 of their own. Despite this, though, Texas State held a 55-53 lead going into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter saw Texas State lead by as many as nine, which was highlighted by a 7-0 scoring run midway through the quarter. Burks tallied six of her points in the fourth quarter, which included two three-point attempts to keep the Bobcats in the lead. That, paired with four from
Morgan Hill tallied 10 of the Bobcats 12 points in the fourth.
After today's win, Texas State is now 10-11 on the season and 4-7 in Sun Belt play.

The team will now return home for games with Coastal Carolina and Western Michigan. The Bobcats will host Coastal Carolina on Feb. 5 at 7 pm and Western Michigan on Feb. 8 at 2 pm. All three of the Bobcats next games can be streamed on ESPN+.
