About Texas State

The Bobcats brought in 12 newcomers to a team that finished 16-16 overall and 9-9 in the Sun Belt Conference last season. Seven of the new guys are transfers from Division I program with three arriving from fellow conference programs in Jalen Bolden (ULM), Kyndall Davis (Louisiana) and Makai Willis (ULM).

Mark Drone and Kaden Gumbs are the only two players back from last season that saw the court. Also returning is Franck Emmou, a UMBC transfer who missed last season due to injury. In 10 games, Drone averaged 11.5 points, 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Gumbs led the team with 4.0 apg and also put up 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals a contest.

Bowling Green played two exhibition games with losses on the road against Dayton (90-59) and Michigan State (75-66).

Javontae Campbell is the top returner from last year's team. He was a MAC All-Defensive Team and All-MAC Third Team after breaking the program's season record for steals with 90, which was the fourth most in the nation. Campbell also averaged 14.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg and 3.0 apg. Another key player back is Sam Towns, who put up 6.3 ppg and 7.0 rpg in six contests before suffering a season-ending injury.
