Bobcats Host Abilene Christian Tuesday Night

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (3-2) reaches the midpoint of its five-game homestand on Tuesday when it welcomes Abilene Christian (3-1) to town. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from inside Strahan Arena.

About Texas State
Saturday saw the Bobcats defeat Texas Southern 77-67 to remain undefeated at home this season. Mark Drone and DJ Hall scored 19 and 16 points, respectively, and recorded 10 points apiece in the second half. After Tuesday's game, TXST will face Little Rock and Texas Lutheran to close out the homestand.
 
Drone leads the team at 11.0 points per game while shooting 48.6% from the field and has knocked down 5-of-12 (41.7%) three-point attempts. Only other player with a double-digit scoring average is Hall at 10.8 ppg. The freshman leads the team with 5.8 rebounds a contest and 14 assists.
 
Both Dimp Pernell and Makai Willis contribute 9.8 ppg while Franck Emmou is adding 9.2 ppg. Kaden Gumbs is tied for the Sun Belt lead with 26 assists and has recorded a team best nine steals.
 
About Abilene Christian
The Wildcats are playing their second of four consecutive games away from home. They opened the season with victories over McMurry, Omaha and Southwestern Adventist before falling this past Friday to Stephen F. Austin on the road. ACU heads to Jacksonville, Florida for the Jacksonville Classic with games against UTSA and William & Mary.
 
Bradyn Hubbard leads the team at 16.0 ppg while making 45.8% of his shots and going 17-for-20 (85.0%). Yaniel Rivera is adding 11.3 ppg and has made all nine of his free throw attempts. Joseph Scott is nearly averaging a double-double with 8.5 ppg and 8.3 rpg while Rich Smith is putting up 8.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 4.8 assists a contest.
 
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 41-19. Last season, the Wildcats won 72-60 at home against a shorthanded Bobcat squad.
 
At home in the series, TXST is 20-2 all-time. The last meeting in Strahan Arena was on Nov. 25, 2019, that ended in a 61-56 Bobcat victory behind a game-high 16 points from Nijal Pearson. Texas State has won the last three matchups in San Marcos with the last defeat being on Feb. 19, 1983 by a score of 60-58.
