Women's Basketball Stopped by Dukes

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's basketball suffered an 81-60 loss to the James Madison Dukes on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the result, graduate transfer Destiny Terrell had her second-consecutive double-digit night with 15 tonight. She tallied a double-double, also bringing down 10 rebounds in the process. Terrell led the Bobcats in scoring in both their games this weekend.

Also with a standout night was senior Morgan Hill who went for 12 points and eight rebounds, and Ja'Mia Harris 11 point showing. This was the fifth game so far this season that the Bobcats have had three double-digit scorers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
James Madison came out aggressive in the first half, taking the lead and quickly getting themselves up. The Bobcats shot just 2-16 in the first quarter, while the Dukes went 7-18. The lopsided shooting helped the Dukes get out to a 12 point lead early that the Bobcats would attempt to overcome.

The second quarter was more effective for the Bobcats as they improved to 5-13 shooting, which also included a perfect 6-6 from the line. The Dukes still outscored the Bobcats 21-16, and headed into the halftime break James Madison led 39-22.

The third-quarter was highlighted by a six-point quarter from Morgan Hill, who shot 3-6 and brought down three rebounds. That helped the Bobcats to 6-16 shooting as they tallied 14 points in the third.

The fourth quarter was the most effective of the night for the Bobcats as they outscored the Dukes 25-16. The fourth was when Terrell came alive as she shot 4-5 with three free throws for 11 points in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats worked to cut the Dukes lead, but fell short. Texas State fell 81-60.

Texas State is now 7-6 this season and 1-2 in Sun Belt play.
