22 Point Night from Foster as Bobcats Fall to ULM

SAN MARCOS, Texas –  Texas State women's basketball suffered a 74-66 loss to ULM on Saturday afternoon, despite a season-best 22 point night from senior Jaylin Foster.

Foster led both sides in scoring on 8-14 shooting while bringing down four rebounds, having six assists and two steals. Destiny Terrell also had 15 while Ja'Mia Harris had 10 points of her own.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Ja'Mia Harris started the night out well for the Bobcats, getting five points early in the first quarter. Despite this, though, the Warhawks shot efficiently, going 9-16, to give themselves a lead after the first quarter. Texas State was able to keep things close after one though, trailing just 21-16. Foster helped out in the first with four points of her own, starting her season-best night.

The second quarter was lower scoring, but Texas State was unable to make any progress on the deficit it found itself in. Heading into the halftime break, Texas State was down 38-29.

Texas State came out of the halftime break hot, though. The team shot 8-16 in the third quarter while holding ULM to just 3-15 shooting. That, paired with the Bobcats forcing the Warhawks to make seven turnovers helped Texas State overcome the deficit it had from the first half. Highlighted by 10 points from Foster alone, Texas State entered the fourth quarter up 50-48.

Monroe was able to fight back in the fourth, though. Despite both sides shooting at over 50% in the fourth quarter, Texas State was outdone by 10-15 shooting and the Wawhawks put up 26 points. Texas State's 16 of their own, with five from Terrell, was not enough to seal a win on the day. Despite a high-scoring third quarter that helped the Bobcats test the Warhawks, ULM won 74-66 on Saturday afternoon.

Texas State is now 9-10 on the season and 3-6 in Sun Belt play.
