SAN MARCOS, Texas – Saturday will see the Texas State men's basketball team (12-8, 5-3 Sun Belt) take on the Sun Belt Conference preseason favorites Arkansas State (15-5, 6-2 Sun Belt) Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the First National Bank Arena.

About Texas State
The Bobcats enter the game on a three-game winning streak and winner of four of their last five games. They are currently tied for third in the conference standings with App State and Marshall while sitting a game back of the Red Wolves. This season, TXST is 5-7 when playing away from San Marcos with a 3-6 mark in true road games.
Coming off being named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week and Sun Belt Player of the Week, Tylan Pope leads the team in scoring (16.0) field goal percentage (53.3), made free throws (97), free throw attempts (120) and blocks (34). He is also averaging 6.5 rebounds per game.
Tyrel Morgan enters second on the team with 14.4 ppg and 6.8 rebounds per game, just behind Joshua O'Garro's 7.0 rpg. Kaden Gumbs comes in netting 12.1 ppg and has dished out a team best 83 assists.
Also with a double-digit scoring average is Coleton Benson at 10.2 ppg. He has made a team-high 28 three-pointers and is one of seven Bobcats to have knocked down at least 10 shots from long-distance. Drue Drinnon has made 23 treys while Dawson has made 18 attempts from beyond the arc.
About Arkansas State
ASU has won four straight games with the last three all coming at home. Thursday night on ESPN2, the Red Wolves downed the Mountaineers 65-55. At home, ASU is 10-0 with the last four coming by double-digits.
Taryn Todd paces the team in scoring (16.1) and made field goals (116) while ranking second in made three-pointers (38), made free throws (51), assists (65) and steals (20). Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year Kobe Julien is putting up 13.3 ppg while Joseph Pinion is adding 11.3 ppg behind 47 made treys.
Grabbing at least six boards a contest is Rashuad Marshall (6.3) and Izaiyah Nelson (6.1). Terrence Ford, Jr. has handed out 81 assists and recorded 21 steals, both the most on the squad.
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 13-6. Last season saw the Red Wolves won both meetings, including an 85-82 contest in Jonesboro on Jan. 11, 2024.
Prior to last season, the Bobcats had won 13 of 14 meetings in the series. TXST is 6-4 all-time when playing in Jonesboro. Last time the team won on the road was a 61-58 contest on Jan. 12, 2023.
