About Texas State
The Bobcats are coming off a very strong offensive performance on Wednesday that saw them net 94 points on 50.7% shooting. TXST was also 12-for-22 (54.5%) on three-pointers with Coleton Benson doing a lot of damage with a 5-for-12 long-distance shooting night on his way to finish with 18 points. Austin Green and Tylan Pope became the first Bobcat duo to both record a double-double in the same game since Isiah Small and Alonzo Sule did so against Our Lady of the Lake on Dec. 12, 2020.

Pope comes in leading the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game on 54.8% shooting and blocks with 26 while grabbing 6.2 rebounds per game. Tyrel Morgan comes in netting 14.4 ppg and had a team leading 6.8 rpg. Also with a double-digit scoring average is Kaden Gumbs at 12.1 ppg. The sophomore is dishing out 4.6 assists a contest and his 2.16 assist-to-turnover ratio is the best in the conference.

Drue Drinnon continues to pace TXST with 23 made three-pointers and a 51.1% mark from beyond the arc. Benson has made 21 treys and is shooting 38.2% on his long-distance attempts. Also, with double-digit made threes are Dylan Dawson (13), Gumbs (10) and Morgan (13).

About Southern Miss
The Golden Eagles fell on Wednesday on the road to South Alabama by a score of 75-62. USM is 0-9 when playing away from home this season with a 0-7 record in true road games. All but one of those contests has seen the Eagles fall by at least 10 points. The lone exception being a 74-71 game at Old Dominion on Jan. 4.

Averaging a double-double a game is Denijay Harris at 16.4 ppg and 11.2 rpg. He also leads the team in field goal percentage (50.3), free throw percentage (70.6) and blocks (27). Andre Curbelo comes in netting 12.0 ppg, dishing out 4.5 apg and recording 23 steals. Also with a double-digit scoring mark is Neftali Alvarez at 10.8 ppg while leading the squad with 57 assists and 25 steals.

Making over 20 three-pointers this season has been Cobie Montgomery (38) and Alfred Worrell, Jr. (23). Montgomery is shooting 43.7% from beyond the arc while Worrell has knocked down 11 triples over the last three games, including six last Saturday against the Bobcats.

Series History
Southern Miss leads the all-time series 4-2 after taking last Saturday's contest 92-88 in overtime. That was despite a 30-point effort from Mark Drone in just his second game of the season that saw him net 22 points after halftime.

When hosting the Eagles, Texas State is 1-1 all-time. USM won the first meeting 79-69 on Feb. 24, 2023 and last season saw the Bobcats claim a 60-55 victory at home behind a 15-point, 14-rebound performance from Brandon Love.
