February MAC-SBC Challenge Games Announced

NEW ORLEANS – The February games of the MAC-SBC Challenge were announced by the Sun Belt Conference office on Monday. On Feb. 8, the Texas State men's basketball team will play at Central Michigan and the women's team hosts Western Michigan.

Both Bobcat basketball teams have posted 3-0 records in the challenge. Both teams began this season with wins over Eastern Michigan.

The women's contest against the Broncos will tipoff at 2 p.m. from inside Strahan Arena. It will be the second-ever meeting between the teams. The only other game took place on Dec. 5, 1997 in San Marcos as part of the SWT Classic that saw WMU pick up a 64-62 victory.

So far this season, the Broncos are 6-8 overall but 3-1 in the MAC. They won both games last week over Northern Illinois and Ohio and opened conference play with a 14-point victory against Eastern Michigan. In the season opener, WMU defeated Arkansas State at home for its first win in the MAC-SBC Challenge.

For the men's team, it will also be the second-ever matchup against the Chippewas. The first game was on Dec. 20, 2012 that saw the Bobcats fall 92-80 on the road.

CMU is 6-9 this season with a 0-3 record in conference play. In the MAC-SBC Challenge, the Chippewas are 2-1 all-time with a victory over Old Dominion and South Alabama, which came in this year's season opener.

Each MAC and Sun Belt team included in the MAC-SBC Challenge is guaranteed one home and away game. Every contest will also be carried on an ESPN platform.
