Four Bobcats in Double Digits for Women's Basketball Win vs South Alabama

SAN MARCOS, Texas–  Texas State women's basketball closed out its homestand with a 65-54 win over South Alabama on Saturday night. Highlighted by double-digit nights for four players and a second-consecutive double-double for Jaylin Foster, the Bobcats ended their home stand on a high note.

Ja'Mia Harris led both teams with a career-best 19 points tonight. Following her up was Foster's double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Destiny Terrell also  made it to double digits with 13 and Blake Matthews had 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Texas State started the first quarter out on a 5-0 run after a three-pointer from Jaylin Foster got things started for the Bobcats. From there, South Alabama answered with a 6-0 run of their own which propelled the Jaguars to a 10-7 lead after quarter one.

The Bobcats came alive in quarter two, though, outscoring the Jaguars 24-7.  The quarter was highlighted by Harris, who had 15 points on  4-6 shooting and five free throws in the second quarter alone. Harris tied her career-high of 17 points in just the first half of the Bobcats game with South Alabama. Texas State shot 8-14 in the second quarter to silence the Jaguars and limit them to just 3-11 shooting. At the halftime break, Texas State led 31-17.

Foster helped the Bobcats in the third to their 14 points as she went 3-3 from beyond the arc for nine points. Foster also had three rebounds and a steal in the third. Despite South Alabama outscoring the Bobcats, Texas State headed into the final quarter with a 45-34 lead.

The fourth quarter was an even affair from both sides as they both put up 20 points. Texas State was prolific from the free throw line though, going 12-16 for over half of their points in the fourth. Matthews led the way with seven points in the fourth. Despite the Jaguars best attempts to get back into the game late, Texas State made their foul shots late to maintain their lead and win the game.

Texas State is now 8-7 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.
