SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State women's tennis found itself back in the win column on Sunday after a 4-3 nail-biting victory over conference foe Georgia State at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

For the second time this week, the Bobcat's match was decided in the final singles contest.
Kiana Graham secured the victory for the Bobcats (10-6, 4-4 Sun Belt) on court No.1 in a match that went down to the final set. After losing the first set 7-5, Graham battled back to win the second set 6-1 and soon found herself with a 5-2 lead in the third set. Texas State was awarded the match point when Georgia State's Maria Paredes received her fourth overrule of the match. The match point gave Graham a 6-2 victory in the final set and secured the 10
th victory of the season for the Bobcats – their most in a season as members of the Sun Belt Conference.

"Feels good to get the win today, it was gritty and we really had to dig it out," said Texas State head coach
Kendall Brooks. "I was proud of the team for overcoming several different moments of adversity and staying tough. Great to get back in the win column and hopefully we can stay on that track to finish strong. The atmosphere and crowd was really great today and fun to be a part of."

The win was Texas State's fourth conference victory, which makes this year the first time it has had four conference wins since 2013 when it was a member of the WAC. It is also the first time since 2012 that it has 10 or more wins in a season.

DoublesÂ
Emma Carr and
Emily Niers were the lone pair to earn a victory during the doubles portion of the match, when they defeated Georgia State's Paredes and Francesca Miglio 6-4 on court two.Â

Both doubles matches on courts one and three went into tiebreakers and the Panthers (6-13, 2-6 Sun Belt) found themselves victorious in both matches to earn the doubles point. On court one,
Sofia Fortuno and
Maria Lora dropped their match 7-6 (8-6) and on court three,Â
Mae McCutcheon and
Andrea Pineda fell 7-6 (9-7).Â

SinglesÂ
Pineda evened the match at 1-1 with a win on court six. Pineda defeated Georgia State's Pragnya Kumar in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. She leads the Bobcats in singles victories this year with 11 total wins between courts four and five.Â

Georgia State regained the lead after McCutcheon dropped her match 6-3, 6-4 on court six.Â

The Bobcats took their first lead of the day after winning matches on courts three and four. Niers was featured on court three and defeated the Panther's Francesca Migilo in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (7).Â

Sofia Fortuno was down 5-2 on court four in the first set and had a remarkable comeback to win the set 7-5 and carried that momentum over into the second set, where she cruised to a 6-1 victory over Georgia State's Luciana Galvez.Â

Callie Creath was matched up against Retortillo Soiras on court No. 2 and dropped the match in a third set tiebreaker 6-7 (3). Creath and her opponent traded 6-1 victories in the first two sets, with Creath taking the first set and Retortillo Soiras winning the second set.Â

Graham recorded her third conference win on court one and secured the match point for the Bobcats, giving them a 4-3 victory over the Panthers.Â

Texas State is back at the Bobcat Tennis Complex next week to take on Sun Belt opponent Louisiana at 10 am on Saturday.Â
