MOBILE, Alabama – Texas State softball got a 1-0 shutout victory in its series opening game against South Alabama. The Bobcats are now on a six-game win streak, are 28-7 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.

Ciara Trahan hit the lone run in, with an RBI single in the 5th inning that scored a previously walked
Kamden Hutton.
Jessica Mullins tossed the complete game shutout for the Bobcats, allowing the Jaguars just one hit in 96 pitches. This was Mullins 12
th complete game of the season and her 6
th shutout game of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
It was a pitcher's duel from the beginning of this one as Olivia Lackie started in the circle for the Jaguars, and
Jessica Mullins for the Bobcats.

Lackie allowed a leadoff hit for
Hannah Earls, but she struck out the next two batters and fouled out
Sara Vanderford to get out of the inning without allowing a run.

Mullins forced three groundouts, including a rocket from Earls at short to JJ smith at first base for three outs. Aftet the first inning things stayed scoreless.

Lackie struck out two more Bobcats in the second, preserving the scoreless game. Mullins kept up the trend in the bottom of the inning when she forced a ground and fly out, striking out the third batter to in three pitches to end the inning.

Earls was able to get another hit in the fourth, but she'd be stranded once again as
Ciara Trahan ground out to end the inning. Mullins kept the Jaguars from scoring in the bottom half of the inning as well.

The Bobcats were able to break the deadlock in the 5
th off an RBI single from Trahan. She scored
Kamden Hutton, who was on base from an 11-pitch walk.Â

Mullins would go on to strike out two of three in the bottom of the inning, her 4
th and 5
th strikeouts of the game.
Neither side found a run in the 6
th, though both got hits. Trahan got a hit in the top of the 7
th but was stranded on first as Randolph struck out.

Mullins finished the 7
th inning in a complete-game shutout performance without allowing another hit. Mullins finished the game allowing just one hit. Texas State came away with the 1-0 win in the series opener.
The Bobcats will continue play on Friday at South Alabama in the second of a three game series. The game will start at 6 pm and be streamed on ESPN+.Â
