HOW IT HAPPENED:
It was a pitcher's duel from the beginning of this one as Olivia Lackie started in the circle for the Jaguars, and Jessica Mullins for the Bobcats.

Lackie allowed a leadoff hit for Hannah Earls, but she struck out the next two batters and fouled out Sara Vanderford to get out of the inning without allowing a run.

Mullins forced three groundouts, including a rocket from Earls at short to JJ smith at first base for three outs. Aftet the first inning things stayed scoreless.

Lackie struck out two more Bobcats in the second, preserving the scoreless game. Mullins kept up the trend in the bottom of the inning when she forced a ground and fly out, striking out the third batter to in three pitches to end the inning.

Earls was able to get another hit in the fourth, but she'd be stranded once again as Ciara Trahan ground out to end the inning. Mullins kept the Jaguars from scoring in the bottom half of the inning as well.

The Bobcats were able to break the deadlock in the 5th off an RBI single from Trahan. She scored Kamden Hutton, who was on base from an 11-pitch walk.

Mullins would go on to strike out two of three in the bottom of the inning, her 4th and 5th strikeouts of the game.

Neither side found a run in the 6th, though both got hits. Trahan got a hit in the top of the 7th but was stranded on first as Randolph struck out.

Mullins finished the 7th inning in a complete-game shutout performance without allowing another hit. Mullins finished the game allowing just one hit. Texas State came away with the 1-0 win in the series opener.
