SAN MARCOS, Texas – Quarterback
Jordan McCloud, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, has transferred to Texas State for the 2024 season. The signing was announced on Tuesday.

McCloud, who has one year of eligibility remaining, played the 2023 season at James Madison and was named the conference's top player and All-Sun Belt First Team. He threw for 3,657 yards on 281-of-412 passing (68.2%) with 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also ran for 276 yards on 96 carries with eight touchdowns.

A product of Tampa, Fla., McCloud led the Sun Belt with 302.5 yards of total offense per game last year. He was also first in the conference in passing touchdowns, passing efficiency, and completion percentage as well as third in passing yards.

McCloud is set to join a Texas State offense that led the Sun Belt in total offense (457.6 yards per game) and scoring offense (36.7 points per game) in 2023. He will also be on an offense that features returning starters in running back
Ismail Mahdi, who led the country in all-purpose yards last season; wide receivers
Joey Hobert, who was second in the Sun Belt in receiving yards per game in 2023, and
Kole Wilson, who tied Hobert for the team-lead in receiving touchdowns last year; and tight end
Konner Fox. The offensive line also returns starters
Nash Jones,
Jimeto Obigbo and
Dorion Strawn.

McCloud began his career at South Florida in 2018, where he spent three seasons, and transferred to Arizona for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

He has started 31 of his 36 games played and totaled 71 touchdowns and 7,634 yards in his career.

McCloud is the 34th player in Texas State's 2024 newcomer class. He is one of 24 mid-year enrollees, a group that will be joined by 10 newcomers this summer.
