SAN MARCOS, Texas – Thursday will see the Texas State men's basketball team (11-16, 4-10 Sun Belt) play Georgia Southern (5-22, 5-9 Sun Belt) at Hanner Fieldhouse for the first time since January 2019.The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. CT.

About Texas State
The Bobcats will be playing their third of four consecutive road games on Thursday. Against Sun Belt Conference opponents, they have claimed just one win in seven games in contests away from San Marcos with the lone victory being at ULM on Jan. 13.
Ever since
Davion Sykes entered the starting lineup at the beginning of the month, he has been a force to deal with for opposing teams. The sophomore is averaging of 13.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while going 31-for-60 (51.7%) from the floor in that time.
Overall,
Jordan Mason continues to lead the team at 12.7 ppg and making a team best 77.8% of his free throws. The sophomore is second on the team with 58 assists and 28 steals.
Brandon Love enters the game netting 10.7 ppg and grabbing 5.7 rpg. He has blocked 42 shots, which ranks fourth in the Sun Belt and is tied for the fifth most by a TXST player in a season.
Kaden Gumbs is dishing out 3.5 assists a contest, which ranks fifth in the conference. His 29 steals also leads the Bobcats while he is scoring 9.1 ppg.
Both
Coleton Benson and
Dylan Dawson are threats from beyond the arc. Benson has knocked down 27 three-pointers at a team-high 42.9% mark. Dawson is shooting 33.3% from deep with a team best 42 made triples.
About Georgia Southern
Heading into the game, the Eagles have lost six with four of the contests being decided by single digits. Their last win was Jan. 27 on the road versus Old Dominion while the last home victory was against in-state rival Georgia State a week prior. Overall, GS is 3-5 at home with all the victories being against Sun Belt teams.
Tyren Moore comes into the game leading the Eagles in scoring (14.8), made field goals (134), made three-pointers (53), made free throws (65), free throw percentage (82.3), assists (76) and steals (31). Also with a double-digit scoring mark is Eren Banks at 10.4 ppg while shooting 38.3% from beyond the arc with 41 made treys. Leading the team with a 51.0 field goal percentage, 5.1 rpg and 27 blocks is Avantae Parker.
All-Time Series vs. Eagles
Georgia Southern leads the all-time series 8-5 but Texas State has won the last two meetings, both taking place in San Marcos. Last season saw the Bobcats win 70-67.
When facing the Eagles in Statesboro, TXST is 1-6 all-time with the last meeting going to GS 67-64 on Dec. 19, 2019. Texas State's lone win in Hanner Fieldhouse was on Jan. 25, 2018 and ended 62-61. Tre'Larenz Nottingham made the game-winning free throw with 3.7 seconds left on the clock and a three-pointer by the Eagle's Tookie Brown hit off the back iron.
