Foster's Double-Double Propels Bobcats to Win in Sun Belt Opener

HUNTINGTON, West Virginia – Texas State women's basketball started off their conference slate with a come from behind road win at Marshall. Despite going into the halftime break down, the Bobcats rallied for 37 points in the second half to win 60-49 on the road.
 
Highlighting the night was a double-double from Jaylin Foster, her first of the season. She had 13 points and 13 rebounds, which included eight points in the fourth quarter to solidify the Bobcats win.
 
Sierra Dickson also had nine on the night, while Ja'Mia Harris had eight of her own. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
Marshall started the game off with efficient shooting to go up 7-0 in the first three minutes of the quarter. From there, the Bobcats fought to bring things closer, but another run by the Herd found them up 16-8 with a minute in the first quarter. Two free-throws from Foster to end the quarter made it a 16-10 game headed into the second quarter.
 
Marshall carried some momentum into the second quarter, going up 24-10 off an 8-0 scoring run to start things out. Late in the quarter, though, the Bobcats had a run of their own to draw the score closer. The Bobcats 10-0 run brough the score to 28-23 with less than a minute in the first half remaining. Highlighting that scoring run was a five-point quarter from Morgan Hill.
 
Out of the halftime break, the Bobcats came out the aggressors. After a Nicole Leff three made it a one-possession game, the Bobcats had found their way back into the game. Leff also hit the triple that tied the game at 34. From there, Takeira Ramey scored three of her third quarter points to make it a 37-36 lead for the Bobcats. Headed to the fourth, the Bobcats held a lead after keeping Marshall to just five points in the third.
 
Texas State went on a 4-0 run to start the fourth quarter courtesy of two layups from Ja'Mia Harris. From there, Texas State controlled the momentum. Highlighting the fourth quarter was eight points from Jaylin Foster and six from Sierra Dickson. 
 
Texas State would go on to outscore Marshall 23-13 in the fourth, sealing the win. In the second half the Bobcats outscored the Herd 37-18. It was a total team effort for the Bobcats in the win, with nine players scoring tonight.

Texas State women's basketball will return home for two games with Sun Belt foes Georgia State and James Madison. The Georgia State game will be Jan. 2 with a 7 pm tipoff and James Madison will be on Jan. 4 at 2 pm, both games in Strahan Arena.
