SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's basketball finished its non-conference slate with a 70-54 loss to UTSA on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
The Bobcats started out the first quarter holding the Roadrunners within four.
Ja'Mia Harris led the Bobcats in scoring with three in the first quarter, with
Morgan Hill and
Saniya Burks also adding on two. Harris would go on to 10 points in the game, her second-consecutive game leading the Bobcats in points. Texas State kept the Roadrunners season-leading scorer Jordyn Jenkins to just one basket in the opening quarter. After one, Texas State trailed 12-8.

UTSA came alive in the second quarter, though, tallying 27 points on 11-19 shooting in the second quarter. Jenkins led both sides with nine points in the second. Texas State had a 12-point quarter highlighted by five-point quarter from freshman
Takeira Ramey. Heading into the halftime break, the Bobcats trailed 39-20.

Texas State held the Roadrunners close in the third quarter, scoring 15 to their 16. The Bobcats shot effectively, going 4-7 in the third.  While the Bobcats shot effectively, UTSA was 6-14 from the field. After three, the Bobcats trailed 55-35.

The fourth quarter was the Bobcats most effective on the night, shooting 7-15 for 19 points. The Bobcats outscored the Roadrunners 19-15. Despite the effective fourth quarter, the Bobcats were unable to overcome the deficit and fell 70-54 to end their non-conference slate.

The Bobcats are now 6-4 on the season as they prepare for their Sun Belt play opener on Dec. 29 at Marshall.
