SAN MARCOS, Texas – The trio of
Drue Drinnon,
Kaden Gumbs and
Joshua O'Garro all posted career highs offensively in leading Texas State (2-0) to a 102-62 victory Friday night over McMurry in Strahan Arena.

Gumbs scored a game-high 27 points and surpassed his previous career best in points in the first half alone (18). He ended up with his second career double-double as he grabbed 10 rebounds. The sophomore also dished out four assists and recorded three steals.

Drinnon netted 21 points in 23 minutes of action. He was 7-for-12 from the field and knocked down a career-high five three-pointers. The graduate guard retrieved six boards and handed out three assists.

O'Garro finished with 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting and made all six of his free throw attempts. He also totaled a career-high six assists while recording two steals.

Bessanty Saragba also set career best in points (7), assists (4) and minutes played (23). Both
Tyrel Morgan and
Christian Turner blocked two shots each.

The Bobcats shot 38-for-67 (56.7%) for the night and were 8-for-20 (40.0%) from beyond the arc. They also shot over 80% from the charity stripe for the second straight game with an 18-for-22 (81.8%) performance. TXST finished with a 46-24 advantage on the glass.

Friday was also the second game in a row that the Bobcats never trailed. They scored the first seven points that was capped off by a converted old-fashion three-point play by
Christian Turner.

The War Hawks scored back-to-back buckets for the only time in the opening 20 minutes to cut the Bobcats lead to 7-4. Texas State went on to score 17 of the next 23 points and added a 10-0 run later in the half to take a 28-point advantage into halftime.

McMurry kept its deficit to under 30 points for the first 10 minutes of the second half. A 16-0 run for over a 5:18 span that saw Drinnon knock down back-to-back three-pointers made any hope of a comeback for the visitors disappear.
