EDINBURG, Texas – Texas State women's basketball secured its second road win of the season to improve to 3-3 on the season after a 68-59 win over UTRGV on Saturday afternoon.

Highlighting the win was double-digit outings from
Ja'Mia Harris and
Destiny Terrell as they each notched 13 points, paired with
Jaylin Foster's career-best 12 rebounds.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
Texas State came out aggressive in the first half, quickly putting themselves up 7-2 with five points from Foster. From there, the Bobcats pushed their lead out to as many as nine to end the quarter off a
Crystal Smith driving layup to make it 18-9 . Throughout the first, Texas State limited the Vaqueros to just 18% from the field in the first quarter, forcing them to 0-10 from three. Additionally, the Bobcats out-rebounded the Vaqueros 16-6 to help the to an 18-9 lead after one quarter.

The Vaqueros found their rhythm in the second quarter, out-shooting the Bobcats 8-19 to the Bobcats 5-13. At the half, the Bobcats still held a two-point lead despite the Vaqueros outscoring them in the second quarter 18-11.

Texas State shot effectively in the third quarter and came out of the halftime break well, shooting 8-14 from the field and leading the entirety of the third quarter. Texas State pushed their lead out to as many as 11 in the third, at one point leading 49-38. At the end of the third quarter, Texas State led 49-41.

Despite the Vaqueros shooting above 50% in the fourth quarter, the Bobcats lead was too much for them to overcome. Texas State outscored the Vaqueros 19-18 in the fourth to seal the win on the day. Smith led with six points in the fourth quarter to help propel the Bobcats to the nine-point win.
