Bobcats Fall to Ladyjacks on Friday Night

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's basketball suffered a 79-60 loss to SFA on Friday night in Strahan Arena.

WHAT HEAD COACH ZENARAE ANTOINE SAID: "The game started out, we were on fuego. There were a lot of positive. SFA did a good job of adjusting. We struggled getting stops. We also started to turn the ball over a lot in the second quarter. We talked about making those adjustments at halftime. We came out and didn't execute. Really it just festered. Our turnover festered and our inability to stop them from getting paint touches or kicks for shots. Then you saw frustration set in, and that makes it difficult… there's a reason why they're an undefeated team."

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Texas State came out firing on all cylinders. Through the first quarter the Bobcats outscored SFA 25-18 while shooting 11-14 from the field. SFA shot effectively too, but the Bobcats 78.6% gave them the lead. Crystal Smith led both sides with seven points on 3-3 shooting.

Throughout the second quarter, SFA started to battle back. Though Texas State shot 45% still in the second quarter, SFA outscored the Bobcats 11-16 to bring the game within one point at the halftime breal. Morgan Hill led both sides with six points in the second, though.

Out of the halftime break, SFA had all the momentum. The Ladyjacks outscored the Bobcats 24-3 in the third quarter to push themselves out to a lead headed into the final quarter. SFA shot 9-16 in the third quarter.

Texas State was able to outscore the Ladyjacks 21-20 in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit sustained in the third quarter. At the end of 40 minutes, Texas State suffered a 79-60 loss to the Ladyjacks.
