MONROE, Louisiana — Texas State volleyball bounced back in a 3-1 win over ULM to improve to 6-3 in Sun Belt play this season. Despite a slow start and dropping the first set, the Bobcats were able to recover and earn three-straight set wins to win the match.
 
Highlighted by a 19-kill night from Sam Wunsch as she led both sides in kills while swinging .368, the Bobcats start the series with Monroe on the right foot. Ryann Torres also led with 41 assists while tallying four blocks and serving three aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
ULM came out aggressively in the first set and were able to get the jump on the Bobcats. While limiting Texas State to nine kills and a .054 attack percentage, ULM won the first set 25-15.

Starting the second set, Texas State came out with a lot of energy. The team was able to tally 17 kills while swinging .438 with just three errors. Sam Wunsch led with five blocks on the way. While swinging effectively, Texas State was able to nullify the effectiveness of ULM's attack and held them to just 11 kills and forced five errors in the second set. Texas State led for the entirety of set two, with their lead extended to as many as nine to end the set.
 
ULM was able to start out the third set ahead, but the Bobcats battled to get themselves back in the set. Despite being down 16-9, Texas State took a 10-0 run to put themselves up 19-10. The 10-0 run was highlighted by a serving run from Torres who tallied two aces in the process. That, paired with three straight kills by Wunsch to tie and reclaim the lead was enough for the Bobcats. Texas State would go on to win set three 25-22.
 
The Bobcats only had one tied score in all of set four, at 1-1. From there it was all Bobcats as they swung .268 in the final set with 16 kills. The Bobcats limited ULM to just five kills with six errors in the final set. That, paired with three aces from the Bobcats was enough to seal the win. Texas State won set four 25-13 and the match 3-1.
 
The Bobcats are now 12-8 on the season with a 6-3 record in Sun Belt play.

Texas State will face ULM in one more road match tomorrow, Oct. 6 at 2 pm. After that the Bobcats will return home to host Southern Miss on Nov. 1 and 2.
